Crysis 2 engine...Crysis engine 1...but on Consoles!?

If you understand things about game engines you know the Crysis one is the Comp crasher of the century. Well never fear for that same technoloigical piece of wonder is gonna hit our very own consoles.

"In a recent interview, Harald Seeley, Engine Business Manager for Crytek revealed that both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 of CryEngine 2 are coming along nicely and that they expect them to look visually on bar with the PC version's high quality settings.

"The surprising thing has been how well the consoles can perform visually, once this tailoring is in place. We expect the final outcome will result in games that look like they're running at high settings, or nearly high settings, on a PC", he said. "Actually, we found it as much or more challenging to address the memory limitations of the consoles when converting our current AI system, as we did while converting our rendering engine or physics system, which was not something you might have expected at the start."

Seeley then expressed his belief that developing such a high quality graphics engine for Playstation 3 has been too difficult that he doesn't expect other developers to do it. "there is no doubt that porting our engine to the PlayStation 3 is the more challenging of our two ongoing conversion projects, but that works to our advantage in the end. We feel certain we have the ability to get the most that is possible out of that platform, and therefore PS3 games which run on our engine

This is not what i class as news,considering i would like to hear what you guys think of this?

Crysis will run smoothly and easily on the ps3, except the ps3 is the hardest platform to develop on

yeah the PS3 fans are always going on about graphical superoirity but none of the games use it to it's full so it might as well not have all that extra hardware you heard them they don't think anyone else will make a graphics engine that can use the ps3 to the full that doesn't sound very good for sony lol. but at least they get one graphics engine.

It also speaks...360 has a better graphics card...So any post made by Daddy cool to defend his precious grill will only be in attempt to justify his purchase XP

graphics cards dont matter on the a gaming console nobhead... anyway look at the difference between early ps2 games (red faction, onimishu) to the later ones that kicked ass (gow 2, gt 4)

that maybe true but its what consol thats better now that matters if it's not going to be good for the next few years you might aswell buy it later when it is hopfully not so stupidly overpriced

Graphic card do count,the only issue with those game looking like shit was the game engines they used.WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT THIS TOPIC IS ABOUT!, a new game engine in production...the engines used in Red faction, ete, etc, were young. Built like....5 years ago.GOW2 and GT two years or so ago.But back on topic, What do you guys think of this engine being capable of running on consoles fine,but only runs on about 10% pc's worldwide?

everyone know that the pc is more powerful it's just it works better for the consols cause thats what they worked for. olso their is alot of crap computers out their.

Thats what pisses me off about cross console games, the graphics are crap compared to what they could be.

Because they develop the game for both PS3 and 360 - but to 360 standards (except UT3 which sucked anyway) becasue the devs are lazy bastards who only care about money! The graphics could be so much better, but its the 360 that is dragging the PS3 down.

Anyway the only songs key knows the words to is bon Jovi and girl songs
